Jenny Kemp
Wave Lengths

November 5 2022- January 1 2023
Reception November 5, 4-6 PM

"Rooted in fascination with both the strangeness and beauty of natural growth systems and how they can be gateways for the imaginative, my visual language has developed from an evolving process of repetition and arrangement of linear structures to generate spaces of movement and symbolic thought. Tensions between painterly precision and free hand form are present in elements that wind and weave, playfully nodding to the idea of the curve as a motif for beauty. Yet as patterns emerge, I search for opportunities to create irregularities in order to change course and grow into new territories and associations that teem with a sense of their own agency." - Jenny Kemp, 2022.

Jenny Kemp received a BS in Art from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and an MFA in Painting from the University at Albany. She has been featured in publications such as 100 Painters of Tomorrow published by Thames & Hudson, New American Paintings, The Huffington Post, Seattle’s City Arts, New York Times, and The New England Review. Kemp is also a recipient of the 2015 NYFA fellowship in painting and the 2015 Emerging Artist Award recipient from the Art Center of the Capital Region in Troy, NY.
