Clare Bonser

Eye of the Sea

June 10 - July 30 2023

Reception June 10 4-6 PM

Clare Bonser (b 1947 Perth WA) has been taking photographs since the 1980s. She studied with Mary Ellen Mark at the Maine Photographic Workshops, at the International Center for Photography (ICP) in Manhattan, with Judy Dater, and has continued to study at the Santa Fe Workshops with Eddie Soloway.

Her works have been shown at the Print Club in Philadelphia; the NJ Center for Visual Arts in NJ and other galleries.

Bonser’s recent body of work, Eye of the Sea, is a group of pictures taken during a recent trip to Molokai, Hawai’i. Displaced from her childhood on the beaches of West Australia, when Bonser is in the presence of the ocean, her eye becomes a powerful tool for perception, an engine of meaning and memory.

This is Clare's first exhibition with the gallery.

Image is Sea No 14. Archival inkjet print. 17 x 22 in. Edition of 5.

A PDF checklist is available here.
